Innovate the world

Understand the world, then change it

It’s one thing to learn concepts and skills in the classroom; it’s another thing entirely to apply them to real-world problems and create solutions. That’s why we pioneered project-based learning back in the 1960s, and haven’t stopped perfecting it since.

Your IQP (the interdisciplinary Interactive Qualifying Project), MQP (the Major Qualifying Project in your area of expertise), and co-curricular humanities project help you take the theories you’ve learned and apply them to real-life situations.

Because after all, what’s the point of inventing cool things if you don’t use them to improve the world?

Change lives—and not just yours

You won’t be the only one impacted by the next four years—you and your project work will also have a tangible effect on people around the world. There’s no time to waste; you’ll start thinking, researching, and doing from your first days on campus.

There’s a reason our motto is “Theory and Practice,” not “Theory then Practice.”

And that’s just the beginning. Get in touch to learn more, schedule a virtual campus visit, and start planning out your application. We can’t wait to hear from you.

“I’m a real believer in going out and building something instead of just sitting in a classroom all day, learning about how to build something. That's the biggest reason I came to WPI.”
